Utah Charter Network (UCN) is a Utah not-for-profit organization, providing services to Utah’s public charter schools.
Kim has represented charter schools on Utah’s Capitol Hill for more than 20 years. She has served as UCN’s Executive Director since its first year of operations (May 2011). Prior to that time, Kim helped to create UAPCS, and served twice as its Executive Director (as well as its Director of Policy and Advocacy). She has been personally responsible for sweeping charter policy and budgetary changes statewide for the growth and benefit of Utah’s movement. She is a respected advisor and “go-to” person on all-things-charter school at the Capitol. All four of Kim’s children have attended and/or graduated from Utah public charter schools.
Courtney is a graduate of Karl G Maeser Preparatory Academy. From 2014-2020 she worked at Utah County Academy of Science (UCAS) as a member of the IT Support Team. She LOVED working with the kids, teachers, staff, and administrators at UCAS. Since leaving UCAS, she has been working as an executive assistant at the Utah Schools for the Deaf & Blind (USDB). She has been accepted into the education department at Utah Valley University (UVU), and is pursuing her passion of becoming a secondary school teacher. She is also a student in the ASL department at UVU–hoping to receive a teaching endorsement in ASL at graduation. Courtney works on special projects at UCN.
Julie has served on Utah Charter Network’s board, and as its president, since May of 2011. Since 2001, she has been the director of John Hancock Charter School (JHCS) in Pleasant Grove. JHCS was designated by Niche as the #1 elementary school in the greater Salt Lake City Area in 2019. Worked as a charter school advocate to pass the initial Utah State Charter School law and wrote one of the first charters in Utah. She founded and was an original board member of the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools (UAPCS). JHCS was recognized as the Charter School of the year by the UAPCS (2007). From 2005-2010, Julie served on the Utah State Charter School Board, and as its president for one year of her term. In 2010, she was named Charter School Trail Blazer of the Year by the UAPCS.
Robyn is the director of the Karl G Maeser Preparatory Academy in Lindon. In 2021, Niche ranked KGMPA #1 Best Charter High School in Utah, as well #1 Best Public High School in Utah. KGMPA has over 600 students and 50 faculty members. Robyn is the KGMPA Board of Director Liaison. She has served on the Utah High School Activities Association Board as a Trustee Member. At UHSAA, she has served on the Constitution & Bylaws Committee, as well as the UHSAA Sports Medicine Committee. Robyn has also served on the Sterling Scholar Advisory Committee, the Utah Governor’s Task Force—Women in Education Initiative, and the Sigma Theta Tau—Leadership Succession Committee.
Justin has been the director of Reagan Academy in Springville since 2016. Prior to becoming the director he served as the assistant director from 2008-2016. He served as a member of the 2019-20 Charter School Task Force. Justin was an original trainer in the Aspiring Charter Executive Seminars (ACES) program of Utah. He presented on Computer Adaptive Testing and Data to the State Board of Education and the Governor of Utah. Justin was a trainer and presenter on School Culture and Data in Ogden and St. George for State Granted project. He was a consultant for a public school in South Carolina. Contracted to provide trainings on board governance, data driven instruction and school culture. Justin has been an invited Panelist and Presenter at BYU Workshop for Graduates in Education for last 8 Years. Reagan Academy has received the High Performing Federal Award for Title I schools 9 years in a row. He managed the financial process of Bonding and Expansion of Reagan Academy, receiving a high rating from S&P in the Bond Market.
Craig served in the Utah State House of Representatives from 2003-2010, and 2012. While serving in the legislature, Craig was a member of the House Public Education Standing Committee, and, Chaired the House Government Operations Standing Committee. He was one of the founders of the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools (UAPCS). He is the business administrator at a Utah charter school. Craig has trained and consulted with charter school administrators and business managers for over ten years, throughout the state.
