Julie Laub

Lean Think: Get More and Do Less with Julie Laub

Lean Think applies incremental, process-improvement ideologies to education. The driving question, “Does this add value?” emboldens educators to remove waste and sharpen processes. This program has been developed by Julie Laub, a seasoned teacher, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. She models the quality and efficiency of the Toyota Production System in the classroom to help K-12 faculty and administration learn how to increase student learning within contract time. Lean Think workshops at the USBE, Davis School District, and many schools have achieved measurable student improvement and increased teacher job satisfaction. Implementation of Lean Think allows educators to get more and do less.
Leave the session with strategies to more efficiently work within contract time and improve student learning.

Julie Laub teaches AP/CE chemistry at Davis High School and is an Adjunct Professor at Weber State University for CHEM 1110. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Utah and Master of Arts in Teaching Science from Western Governors University. She worked as an organic chemist and eventually laid down her career to raise 5 daughters. In 2011 Julie began teaching chemistry and has been voted teacher of the year multiple times. To enhance her teaching skills, Julie earned her Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma in 2017. In 2015 she created and began hosting Lean Think workshops for the Utah State Board of Education and Davis School District. She thrives while coaching teachers and administrators how to get more while doing less. Faith, family, and teaching are the joys of her life.
